Thee Big Black on Facebook . . . .

Thee Big Black are now on Facebook, follow the link and add to get regular updates in your facebook newsfeed . . .

What's been going on with Thee Big Black . . .

Well . . .

It seems like an age since we last did a proper update as to what's been going on here at Thee Big Black, and that is probably to do with the fact that it has in fact been bloody ages since we updated.
So, many things have happened in the last couple of months, some good, some bad and some utterly irrelevant. The ripples of The Hobgoblin fiasco are still being felt here, especially as one of our number was made homeless and has had to move back to Dorset as a result, but we shall overcome!!!

Our first night at The Prince Albert in July was a massive success, so thanks to all who turned out for that. We are now on the waiting list to get a regular monthly slot, as you can imagine The Prince Albert gets booked up well in advance, so now we wait.
We've also now got our name down on the waiting list for a regular weekend night at a Brighton club (we're next in line!) which we have big plans for, once we get a night we plan to have one or two bands on each night as well as DJs, visuals and distro stalls. With any luck we'll get a monthly Saturday so fingers crossed!

To keep you all going until then we have the fantastic Taint (who some of you will remember from their support slots with Clutch, and a few of you may even have seen them at one of their previous Brighton shows) playing at The Engine Room on Friday October the 23rd. Supporting Taint on their tour are Alabaster Suns, a name you might recognize from their shows with Ravens Creed and Orange Goblin (2008's xmas show which also saw veteran metallers Angelwitch take the stage) and who also feature ex-members of the excellent Capricorns. Local support comes from our very own Enos and Skulldozer, both bands we recommend you go and check out!
Tickets for this show are £8 (plus booking fee) and are available from Ampwitch, Punker Bunker, Edgeworld and online from Gigantic.com.
This is an early show (doors are at 7pm) with the first band taking the stage at 7.45, so you'll want to get there early if you don't want to miss anything.

If that's just too long for you to wait then we suggest that you get down to The Concorde 2 for this years Brightona rally on Sunday October the 11th where Enos, Funeral Hag and many others will be taking to the stage in support of The Sussex Heart Charity. Entry to the rally is free on foot or £5 on wheels but all donations are gratefully received. Check our earlier blog for more details and the full line up.

On Halloween night we will be doing a DJ set at The Komedia as part of Club Ampwitch which is returning for one night only as part of Club Smooch. Following the Cabaret night (which includes a set piece performance done to Cathedral's Hopkins (The Witchfinder General)!!!) we will be on hand to play long into the night. Club Smooch tickets also include entry to Club Ampwitch or there are separate tickets available for just £4.50!!! We'll keep you posted with more info a little closer to the time, but if you need any more details you can contact Club Smooch through their myspace profile.

You might remember that some time ago there was talk of us starting up a TBB 'zine. Well that's still on the cards and is being planned out as you read this.
We had a massive response to the idea but very few actually offers of submissions and as a result have had a bit of a rethink. After some extensive chin stroking we decided that if a job is worth doing then it is worth doing properly and are putting together a team to work on the 'zine.
If you want to be involved by all means get in touch, the more the better!

Anyway, that's a same taster of things to come so keep your eyes on the skies for more updates!!

Taint tickets on sale now . . .

Tickets for the Taint + Alabaster Suns + Enos + Skulldozer show on Friday October 23rd at The Engine Room are on sale now at Punker Bunker, Ampwitch, Edgeworld and online at Gigantic.com priced £8 plus booking fee.

As part of the 2009 Brightona rally we are putting on 9 top bands at The Concorde 2 on Madeira Drive. Entry to the rally is free if you're on foot or £5 if you want to get your bike in, all proceeds go to the Sussex Heart Charity, so if you do come on foot donations are greatly appreciated.
